HDI Group was founded in 1982 by Karin Ritchie in Johannesburg. What started as a small industrial supply business grew into a procurement partner trusted by mining operations across 12+ African countries.
Georgy Kruger grew up in the HDI warehouse and worked her way to Managing Director — expanding the supplier network across Africa and establishing the personal, relationship-driven approach that clients still recognise today.
Since 2014, Managing Director Alwyn van Jaarsveld — a chartered accountant turned procurement specialist — has built on that foundation, combining HDI's personal touch with the systems, speed, and precision that modern mining procurement demands. Every client works with a dedicated Key Account Manager who knows their operation. No call centres. No hand-offs.
